Note to Strength,

On a serious Fred…

Far too often we forget the strength we have inside, the strength that helps us to pull through life’s many “quirks”.  Instead we fixate on someone or something to help bring that smile, that jive, that hope, only to find more misery.  Misery that leads to self hate and ultimate death…no, not death but pretty damn close.  We tend to put all our “eggs” (hopes, wants, needs, desires, dreams) into one basket without realizing that at any given moment the basket could be crushed, the eggs could be stolen or worse smushed…ultimately leaving us disseminated and without a backup plan.

Why wait for that to happen?  Instead of relying on others, rely on yourself.  Give yourself the chance to be your hero.  Why wallow in your self-pity and pain?  Just because society portrays us as such feeble beings, doesn’t mean you are.  Look in the mirror and love the person you see, make that person smile, be their rock.

A very dear friend sent this to me, it makes sense and I like it!

Build Yourself a Strong Box,

Fashion each part with care;

When it’s strong as your hand can make it,

Put all your troubles there;

Hide there all thought of your failures,

And each bitter cup that you quaff;

Lock all your heartaches within it,

Then sit on the lid and laugh.

Tell no one else its contents,

Never its secrets share;

When you’ve dropped in your care and worry

Keep them forever there;

Hide them from sight so completely

That the world will never dream half;

Fasten the strong box securely

Then sit on the lid and laugh.
